When Joseph Smith went into the woods to pray, he was tackled by Satan (Joseph Smith History 1). Immediately afterward, Heavenly Father and Christ visited Joseph - but not until after the trial.
I'm struck with how Satan behaved exactly like a parasite (Parasites trick hosts to avoid death), terrified that he would lose his slow chronic hold on the people of Earth, he made an acute attack at the place that would make the most difference - Joseph's fear/faith.
And like a parasite, the attack was strong and acute, but not strong enough to prevent the healing (Antifragile to a threshold) that occured afterward.
