When there are known steps to a process, like starting a new project at work, you can save yourself a whole lot of time and effort by creating a checklist that you can just follow.

A document called something like Project Initiation Checklist with all of the steps needed to start a project can be really helpful. List all of the things: tools, communication channels, communication that needs to occur, etc.

The point is to front-load as much work as possible so your team can get off the ground smoothly without them needing to wait for you to do your job.
