Nintendo R&D1. (1985). Gyromite [NES game]. Kyoto, Japan: Nintendo.

Gyromite is a puzzle-platformer utilizing the NES accessory R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddy). Players guide Professor Hector to collect dynamite within a time limit while avoiding enemies called Smicks and navigating barriers formed by red and blue pillars. Hector cannot jump, relying on pillars to move out of his way. R.O.B. interacts with the game by manipulating spinning gyros on physical trays that correspond to in-game commands. Placing gyros on red or blue trays presses the A or B buttons on the second NES controller, which moves the respective pillars. In some puzzles, spinning gyros are balanced on buttons to simultaneously activate multiple commands. The game features two modes: Game A, requiring manual confirmation of R.O.B.'s commands via the START button, and Game B, streamlining this process. Mechanics combine physical and digital interaction, offering a unique challenge leveraging the robotic accessory's capabilities.
