Chris Crawford spoke of the value of genuine conversations in the context of helpful learning. It's a tight feedback (Negative and positive feedback loops) loop of information transfer. Specifically helpful in only sharing information back and forth which is relevant to the subject at hand.

  1. I speak, you listen
  2. You process what I said and formulate a response
  3. You speak, I listen
  4. I process what you said and formulate a response
  5. Repeat

This is the same model as the transfer of information in general information theory #zt. It's the basic model that helps reconnect a disconnect (Strong communication builds healthy connections), and can be conceptually applied to many domains.
